9:45 am – SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE

Worship is about God, not about us

God has welcomed us into His presence through the person and Work of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. He is the only God, and a personal God who has made it clear Who He is and what He expects of us. So God defines worship, has initiated worship, and evaluates what is and what is not true worship.

Worship is a response to God as He has revealed Himself in the person of Christ and in the Written Word of God.

You will find our worship services to be founded on and saturated with Scripture. We aim for a rhythm of God’s revelation and our response, as we rehearse God’s greatness and work, and then respond to Him with humility, brokenness, submission, joyful praise, and renewed commitment.

You will find our gathering to be centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ. It is Jesus Christ who has made worship possible, and He is the focus of our praise.

Worship is a response of all that we are. We are called to understand God’s will with our minds, engage it with our wills, and delight in it with our hearts. So we respond in worship to God with every part of us – heart, mind, body, will.

Worship is a primarily a community event. We were saved into a body, a family of faith. Certainly we engage in private, personal worship, but worshipping God always leads us to a greater recognition and appreciation of and deeper fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

This is reflected in a variety of styles of music and other artistic expressions utilized during CBC’s worship services. Stylistic decisions are never to be “political” in nature, but again, driven by a desire to be Word-founded and Christ-centered in all we do, and to celebrate our unity in diversity. We seek to reflect the rich history of our legacy of faith in Christ (saints who have gone before), while still “singing a new song” because “His mercies are new very morning.”

Worship is a lifestyle we engage daily, not only an event we attend weekly. Worship in the assembly is to beget further obedient response to God’s Word outside the assembly. Worship is

Goals in planning, same as for our participants…..create services that… allow God’s people to respond to God as He has revealed Himself, with the centerpiece being Jesus Christ’s person and work, in a way that draws them in to community and prompts continued response outside the assembly.
